Review on Gamma Seal Lid 6 Pack by Lisa Simmons

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I'm embarrassed that it says "Made in USA "

The first lid I pulled out of the shipping box was problematic. The sealing ring on the screw cap fell to the ground as soon as the snap ring on the bucket was removed from the screw cap. The O-ring looks like it came loose at the seam. The second lid I pulled from the shipping carton, I installed on a 3.5 gallon pail with ease. I filled it with water and screwed the lid on. I carefully tipped the bucket on its side and water immediately began to drip out. Water got in between the ring attached to the bucket and the screw cap. So it's not waterproof. I did the third cover the same way as the second. The difference is that I filled the bucket with propane from an unlit burner and then quickly screwed the lid on. I left the bucket outside in the open air for 15 minutes to allow the outside of the bucket to air out. I brought the bucket into the room for a smell test. 5 minutes and no odor with the bucket standing upright. Propane is heavier than air, so I turn the bucket upside down to bring the propane closer to the lid. In less than a minute I could smell rotten eggs. So the air is leaking. So if it can't keep air or water in the bucket, how is it supposed to keep moisture and oxygen out of the bucket? Moisture and oxygen are the main factors that cause dried foods to spoil over time. Due to limited indoor storage space, I have stored my kibble in an outdoor shed. What it takes to keep rodents from licking kidney fluid onto the lid and then seeping into my Cheerios. Bottom line: you need at least one better sealing ring between the ring that attaches to the bucket and the screw cap. The o-ring between the bucket and the ring seems fine. 3 capsules tested. 3 covers are broken. 3 capsules not tested. An error rate of 50% or higher equates to an immediate return request. These things are too expensive for such low quality assurance.
