Review on Precision Made Simple: PROTRAC06 6 Inch Marking Protractor for Accurate Measurements by George Saunier

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My first Incra purchase.

I gave it five stars because the quality was obvious at first glance, the item is amazing. I do small projects in my garage using a table saw, radial saw, and various sanders to make small multi-sided boxes. The lids consist of wedges glued together on a base of the same wood. In order for the sixteen small pieces to fit snugly (octagonal lid), the angles must be exact. With this tool I can get the accuracy I need. For those wondering, it comes with a 0.05mm pencil. With this tool I can mark any angle within 0.5 degrees, and with a magnifying glass I can mark an angle up to 0.25 degrees (I doubt I can close that distance). Warning: This protractor is a delicate tool and must be treated accordingly. Don't be surprised if you notice stains the first time you handle the tool, it's just oil from your fingers getting on the aluminum. It bothered me a little, so I rubbed it with some vegetable oil and wiped it clean. I look forward to many years with this wonderful tool. Since the protractor is only 6 inches wide it only shifts the marks 3 inches off center, with care you can probably extend these marks an additional three or four inches without losing much accuracy. Accuracy. I wish Incra would offer a 12" and possibly an 18" model with slightly thicker aluminum and the same accuracy. I recommend this wonderful tool.
