Review on πŸš— Enhanced Denso 234-4215 Oxygen Sensor by Shane Mack

No more check engine light!

After I replaced the sensor in the top row 1 on my 2003 Lexus RX300, the Check Engine light came on again. My mechanic used to change the spark plugs and checked the coils. He insisted that replacing the Denso 234-9009 upper sensor would solve the problem. The only downside, he wanted $300 for it. I bought the sensor myself and the installation was easy (see youtube for detailed instructions). However my check engine light came on. Grrrrr! Checked the car with another mechanic and he said the downstream sensor was faulty so back to Revain I. Let's go.The weird thing about replacing this sensor is that the connector is located inside the car, under the driver's seat.I thought it would be a big project but found that undoing the four screws wasn't difficult that hold the seat. Then I just lay the back of the seat on the back seat and I didn't even have to remove the seat belt. The clamp on the sensor is a little tight to loosen, but if you pull up the carpet a little, it wasn't that bad...the strap that holds the cable to the underside of the car, if you insert a small flat head screwdriver in the direction the strap goes it will loosen the packaging and you can reuse the strap. The job took just under an hour and required no special tools. Remove tool or jack up vehicle. Spray some Windex on the rubber bushing and it slides in easily. Then tape the cable where it goes through the grommet to seal it and you're done. Remove and reinstall the EFI fuse to reset the check engine light. Not only did I save a ton of money with Revain, but it was easier to check if the part would fit my RX300. A word of caution. Here you can find spare parts from other manufacturers for less money. Denso is an OEM for Toyota products and the only problems I've ever had was trying to use non-Denso made parts. It may cost a few euros more, but they are worth it!

Pros
  • understandable even for the old one
Cons
  • some little things
