finally fixed my check engine light and VSC light

This part finally fixed my Check Engine light and VSC light problem. Even after the replacement, I noticed a significant improvement in acceleration and gas mileage. I originally replaced 2 air/flow sensors (preinstalled upstream) as the trouble codes identified the ones that needed changing, but after replacing both, the code eventually said that this sensor needed to be replaced. The swap was a bit of a hassle as the sensor is at the bottom of the car in the exhaust pipe from the engine to…

Perfect fit at 1/10 the price (for do it yourself install)

It arrived very quickly and looked well put together. The Denso box was all crumpled up and looked used, but the O2 sensor was definitely new. I took it out of the box and there was no model number or Denso sticker on the O2 sensor. Hopefully I got the real deal and not a fake. All spark plugs, wires and sensors looked good so I decided to proceed with the O2 installation. Removed the old 02 and installed the new O2 and the Walla "Check Engine Light Bulb" was gone. Here's my recommendation…

Fixed my code P0136! Emissions test passed.

My check engine light was on and I got 3 codes on my 2003 Lexus RX300 AWD: P0171, P0174, P0136. I read online that p0171 and p0174 are related to a bad MAF (mass air flow sensor) and P0136 was the result of the previous two codes. So I ordered an air mass meter from Revain and installed it (very easy, about 10 minutes). But after 20 minutes of driving, all three codes came back. I then turned to code P0136 instead of the other two and read online that P0136 is the result of a faulty O2 sensor…

Rear Sensor on a 2002 Toyota Highlander V6

This sensor was used to replace the pre-catalyst sensor on a 2002 V6 Highlander. Installation was fairly easy, although I had to remove 4 front driver's seat bolts and tilt the seat forward to access the connector, which is located inside the cab under the seat carpet. 4 screws were easily loosened with a socket wrench. The seat can be tipped forward without having to disconnect any of the cables leading to the seat to control the power seat. The connector in the cabin is physically connected…

No more check engine light!

After I replaced the sensor in the top row 1 on my 2003 Lexus RX300, the Check Engine light came on again. My mechanic used to change the spark plugs and checked the coils. He insisted that replacing the Denso 234-9009 upper sensor would solve the problem. The only downside, he wanted $300 for it. I bought the sensor myself and the installation was easy (see youtube for detailed instructions). However my check engine light came on. Grrrrr! Checked the car with another mechanic and he said the…
