I bought this mount because the original didn't fit today's larger frame tubes. This mount is very versatile thanks to its versatile mounting system that allows it to be mounted in multiple locations on the frame. The seat post, top tube, and down tube are all reasonable places to consider depending on your riding position and bike frame compatibility. I chose the seat stem just below the top tube. The mount itself mounts easily with a padded strap/buckle and a 4mm hex nut that secures the pan/pan locking mechanism. I rotated mine enough that the u-lock tilted into the same orientation as the seat. The system comes with two different sized clamps that attach to the bracket. Both fit my larger U-lock. The smaller collar will require you to trim the rubberized plastic guard where the larger fits over the guard, but it will move a little even if it's very tight. I twisted mine just enough to tuck the top under the seat so my foot didn't hit it. I would recommend, if you really like the mounting position, to use some blue Loctite on the mounting hex nut and on the set screw on the locking ring to keep them from loosening, which I did. An Allen wrench is also included, but I used a longer one for more power. Just out of curiosity I would like to see pictures of failed attempts to install this on a bike to find out why. Overall very nice, works well and as intended. As for durability, I'm not sure, but I'll write something in 6 months if I change my mind.
