Thicker cable, don't hesitate to buy this wire harness.

a new lighting set. ! Too bad the lighting kit only specifies DOT approved Chinese wire which can fail due to faulty lighting and even risk death if hit by a trailer! The headlights themselves are DOT compliant but there is no standard for the wire lol. This new suspension appears to be of excellent quality, much thicker and more genuine rather than being replaced. One downside for me was that wiring harness and probably most others now don't have a dedicated lighting ground wire and the ground is your trailer frame. I've never liked putting ground on the frame, although in many cases I've often repaired bad ground connections, particularly at the junction between the taillight and the frame, and also had to remove the trailer's protective paint to make a good ground, leading to corrosion of the trailer. What I did with this new wiring harness since it had 2 brown wires for the lights (you only need one) I just connected the white ground wire that you had to attach to the frame to one of the brown wires and used that for the ground . to any trailer tail light than simply running the ground to the other light TOGETHER with the brown lighting wire to the other side. I was able to make this wire from the extra wire I had left over from this wire harness! With my setup you have a dedicated ground wire from your vehicle's ground to your trailer's headlights, thus avoiding using the trailer's frame itself as ground, this is the preferred method and you never have grounding issues that could cause damage. This also makes troubleshooting easier you've had problems before. I see so many trailers having grounding issues with headlights or the white wire to the trailer. I don't recommend this, it's your choice, but it's much better to have a dedicated grounding period. Much luck
