A NOTICE ! Car Wiring Harness Connectors

NOTE: This key will work as long as your turn signals and brakes are on the same line (wire). If your car has an independent cable, you will not have brake lights on your trailer. You need to buy a Saapter Car Kit for your make of car/truck. Otherwise the wiring to the trailer was great.

Super easy to replace

I replaced existing wiring so it was really easy. Came with 4 vampire roosters and a handful of clips. I had to reuse some of my old clips; It would be great if it was twice as much. Note that the ground wire at the end of the trailer is awfully short. Can't comment on the end of the car's seat belt; I didn't need it.

Terrible connectors

Everything is fine with this wiring except the connectors. For example copper wire instead of aluminium. But what's the point of redoing the wiring if the connections are so bad that the whole thing is practically unusable? Extremely tight. So tight it would take a 900 pound gorilla to fall apart. Of course it will loosen up a bit with use, right? no You will end up tearing off one or the other connector. I do NOT recommend.

Good, cheap solution. Won't last.

All outdoor wiring, especially if it gets wet, should be made of marine grade tinned wire to prevent corrosion of the cable itself. This trailer is not. And crimp connectors are cheap too. They will corrode unless you seal them with silicone grease (I did). This product is a quick and cheap fix, but not worth the price if the installation requires a lot of work. Find a bundle of tinned wire; Use waterproof connectors or waterproof connections.

Ease of use in spare parts

I bought this kit because it is a 'Y' or wishbone which means the lighting wires are fanned out at the hitch and run either side of the trailer. It was connected differently than from the factory, the wire only went on one side. Because of this I had to drill holes in the frame where there were no wires before, but I still liked this design more. I used it in a 5 x 12 trailer and had more than enough cord length. Remember that when installing on a trailer you may need rubber grommets as well as

Poor quality Good for lighting and electrics

Very disappointing. It has a sealed molded plug so I never thought to check continuity. I installed and secured the entire wiring harness to the trailer but only the left side worked. I assumed I had broken a wire or shorted something out, but after troubleshooting I found not one, but TWO bad contacts in the molded plug. I ended up cutting it off and replacing it with a plug I bought from Auto Zone. It would have been a major hassle to remove the wiring from the trailer and besides I had to…

a new lighting set. ! Too bad the lighting kit only specifies DOT approved Chinese wire which can fail due to faulty lighting and even risk death if hit by a trailer! The headlights themselves are DOT compliant but there is no standard for the wire lol. This new suspension appears to be of excellent quality, much thicker and more genuine rather than being replaced.
