Bought the hood and sunroof pillars in September 2017. They worked fine until I turned on the rear heater a month ago. After driving about 5 miles I smelled melted plastic and something burning. Then I heard a crack. I stopped quickly and wondered what had happened. It turned out that for some reason the lower defrost connector had overheated and melted the lower connector to the point where it had separated from the ball joint. The bang was the impact of the rack on the floor of the trunk. It was still very hot and the carpet in the trunk was melted/burned. It was so hot that I couldn't touch the device.
