Review on πŸ” TRACT TORIC 10X42 UHD Binocular - Enhanced Low-Light Performance and Edge-to-Edge Sharpness with Schott HT Glass by Sherita Dixon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Outstanding 10x42s - Best Value

Here is a quick review of the Toric 10x42: *Mechanics and build quality are very good: rigid hinge, smooth focuser, eyecups with stops, nice tactile armor and clear tubes (I could only see a few tiny dust particles). The containers are very easy to hold. * Reliable eye placement: no blackout even with wrong IPD setting. * Viewing angle = 6.5 degrees is competitive and the image is bright. * Apparent depth of field = pretty good for 10x magnification. *Glare Control: Excellent (on par with Nikon EDG); There are some reflections in the eyepieces from the side light, but they are easy to handle. * CA control is very good on axis; While the CA does show up off-axis, this isn't much of a problem in normal use. .).* Pincushion distortion is well controlled and appears to be minimal. * Field curvature, possibly 2-3D. For those with good young eyes, the image should remain clear across most of the field of view, but this may not be the case for those with old/astigmatic eyes. Possible competitors: Leica Trinovid HD, Nikon Monarch HG, Vortex Razor, Swarovski SLC and Zeiss Conquest HD (all significantly more expensive than Toric). I've had them all, and considering the overall package, I prefer Toric: once you add price into the equation, choosing a Toric should be a no-brainer.

Pros
  • Diopter Mount and Improved Eyepiece (Ocular) The TORIC design provides a wider field of view and longer eye relief, minimizing shadows from misaligned eyes. Great optics for eyeglass wearers
Cons
  • Will be added later
