meat pie! fits starter and parts

UPDATE May 2020: DO NOT buy this starter! This starter just failed. Not happy with the life of this starter. The Excursion I installed it in is not used in the winter as it is mainly used to tow our caravan. Preserved in the winter months. With that in mind, it lasted the equivalent of 11 months of regular use before it failed. So much for being impressed with this starter. The original starter lasted 17 years. I've had a problem with my 2001 7.3 Excursion for a long time. It just spins too long before firing. The old starter just seemed weak. I bought this starter because of two things. 1) It is based on a Denso offset gearbox which has an excellent reputation. 2) 15 solid 5-star reviews. For example, you may need to add some clearance to the engine cross member. I didn't have to, but the starter is nearby. maybe an eighth of an inch from the crossbar. Likewise. Replace the Phillips screw holding the solenoid cable. I also replaced my hex screw which screwed into the back of the ferrule creating a stud to hold the wire. I then used a nut and washer to tighten it. I can't imagine starting this screw with a built in starter. I can't see what you are doing on the top of the starter. It's much easier to use Helen Keller's wire connection method if you put it on a stud. The first time I started my truck after replacing the starter motor I was blown away. It should turn my engine at least twice as fast as the old starter. No more long jerks! Now my car starts with a touch of the starter. I couldn't be more impressed. Buy this starter. That's great!
