Review on 🚚 Enhanced Truck Tailgate Assist by DEE ZEE (Model DZ43301) by Robert Ogrodnik

I've been using this for a few weeks and I'm not happy with this feature. The top of the cylinder has already cracked and about every 3 or 4 uses of my tailgate the bottom of the cylinder comes loose from the ball seat and hangs there. My safety cable on my truck keeps getting caught behind the cylinder and yes I installed the plastic bushing correctly and according to the instructions on the safety cable. which should prevent the cable from running behind the cylinder and getting caught. If the cable doesn't get caught, it constantly hangs out of the tailgate like a noose. When it works, it does its job as advertised. But I never know what I'll get if I open or close the back door. I'm considering returning it for a refund. Update January 2, 2020: I have contacted Dee Zee to return this item for a refund. I continued to use this tailgate for a few more weeks after my initial review and even adjusted the position to try and get it to work better. Vain. It was more trouble than anything. I like it when it works and doesn't get stuck in my tailgate, but it gets stuck pretty much all the time. Bad design for what it's supposed to do. Update 20th January 2020 - Two emails from DeeZ so far and none of them have been answered. I also tried returning the item via Revain, but nothing helped there either.
