I like it when my hamster runs around the house but there is a lot of free space on the plan. I wanted to keep him in the room I was in and not watch the door like a hawk. I used a few cardboard boxes briefly, but our toddler spent a lot of time attacking them and trying to scale. Sign up for these panels. They looked quite nice and should have made good temporary room dividers. The plastic connections are solid, but it's more of a semi-permanent design. So I took zip ties (should be 100 or more) and connected the panels into several multi-panel stacks. When opened, they stay upright until you add a few zigzags and folds to them. And when I put our hamster away, they quickly fold up and stow it behind a piece of furniture. Installed with them first night and no complaints - works exactly as I hoped. Many panels. I have additions that I am not planning yet (spare parts?), including gratings.
