I bought this as a gift for someone who likes tea. She thought it was very cute and uses it often. It is easy to wash by hand, but also easily several times in the dishwasher. Due to the size of the holes, I recommend using it for herbal teas. Other types of tea fall directly into the water through the holes in large quantities. If you don't mind the presence of grains at the bottom of the cup, it's not a problem. Because it's on the side of the mug, you can leave it on while sipping tea and it won't get in the way.
