PROSBernat children's sports thread is an excellent product that combines quality and price. This is a three ply yarn with a gauge of about 3 on a scale of 1 to 6. It wears very well, and I mean very well. I don't like putting blankets and other yarns in the dryer, but this yarn will hold up in the dryer if squeezed. It doesn't "roll" fast; by 'twist' I mean that wear and tear forms scattered tendrils of product, and these tendrils/loose strands are then collected in small knots on the surface of the yarn. You know. fluffy. This yarn avoids that pretty well if you take care of it. I care for this yarn by soaking the soiled item in a mild oxy-clean solution and then washing on a gentle cycle; consider an extra spin cycle; and then hang in the dryer. If you do all of this, this yarn can last a long time as a good spin cycle will leave many projects made with it almost dry. CONST Why only four stars you ask? And for the following reason: The material is sold in one large strand, which seems to be logically structured. . . until you try to find the inner end. But why, Bernat? Why? Could you find a way to make the beginning/inner end accessible from the outside of the strand? I might not be too salty on this matter, but this yarn is sold in large skeins, and as such finding the inner end is impossible without tying a massive knot. To find the inner end of this yarn, I need to gut this thing. like a half-frozen Thanksgiving capon ripping out all the innards and hoping for the best. It's crazy. Yes, I could start at the far end and make a giant ball, but that would take hours and hours and hours. Can I recommend this yarn? YUP! Do I recommend grabbing a few martinis before diving into finding a starting point for your yarn the day before your project is scheduled to start? ALSO YES! Bernat has two options for solving this problem: either leave the interior visually accessible, like other companies do, or get rid of the gremlins in charge of ongoing construction.
