💦 Klean Kanteen Classic Stainless Steel Water Bottle with Klean Coat, Leak-Proof Cap – Single Wall Design Review

Every water bottle has its downsides: Nalgenes are translucent and get hot in the sun, insulated SS bottles are heavy and bulky. So far this bottle seems to me to be the best compromise. It's lightweight, narrow enough for regular cup holders, steel instead of plastic, and opaque. I wouldn't mind a cap that requires less twisting to remove, but unfortunately there is no such thing as a perfect water bottle!

I first bought it from REI but after years of abuse I lost it in a Cairo taxi. Back at REI, I find that all the bottles are either plastic, double walled (I don't need insulation and prefer to use that volume) or with a straw that traps bacteria, I'm not interested in regular cleaning. you are looking for the wrong post.

I've been using Klean Kanteen water bottles for years, they're my favorite brand! 27 ounces is better for hiking, but this 18 ounce is best for commuting to the mall or to work, where it fits in almost every purse of mine. Never had any issues with leaks other than user error (not fully tightened) although sometimes pressure/temperature changes will block them and then make them difficult to open. Was very happy to find them so cheap here, they are usually around $30 each, almost half that!

Very disappointed with the quality of this bottle (and quality control)! Firstly what I received is not a 2018 model but was manufactured in September 2017 .(See image) The bottle appears to be lighter than comparable single wall stainless steel bottles and is almost the same weight as the cap I ordered (ASIN: B0083F0RKM). Travel to initiate a return and get another.

I'll have these before I lose them. There is no other way to get water. Saves you money and lets you drink lots of water. Just fill 40 oz. before each working day. I have two. One for the gym, one for work. I turn them over when they need cleaning or after a long climb or hike. I couldn't think of a product I like better for drinking water. By companion I mean it probably won't be the only water bottle you'll ever own. Its size (around 1.8L) and potential weight (around 2kg) mean it's not the easiest to transport.
