Received my electronic flare today. It blinks! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I can't say how it works in an emergency. But it looks well built and I see no reason why it shouldn't perform as advertised. This is a bit more expensive compared to the flare kit but looks very durable. The instructions state that the batteries must be removed before long-term storage. I will most likely never need to use this unit (I don't plan on getting into an emergency) so I will consider long-term storage on my boat with the batteries removed so they don't eat up the unit. while patiently waiting while I use it. I also have a few spare C batteries just in case. So for now 5 stars. If I ever need to use it I'll try to update this review with those results.
