Just install it today and I love the nano bubbles, the bubbles from the 2 inch black disc I bought are much smaller than a regular aquarium air stone. Some bubbles are big, but many are nano. I soaked my drive for 3 days - (being very busy finally got around to installing it). I ordered a 2" black disc, hopefully the stone disc will also be black on this product in the future. I first hooked up this new air stone to a 1.7w air pump with no control valve and it was too strong. Flow for my 11" aquarium. (I've included a photo of how I installed the control valve). Unless you're diverting the flow from the pump to another airstone, you'll need to create some sort of air drain if you want an easier flow of air bubbles. If By simply connecting a control valve to an air pump, you create an air pressure relief that will prolong the life of your air pumps.(You don't want to cause air backflow to your air pump - this will make your air pump work harder.) I added cotton to the opposite end of the control valve, to muffle any hissing noise when venting - I don't hear any air hissing when the cotton is in place.(See image) I I hope this product will work for a long time. I will buy a second air stone when this one gets dirty to replace. Note; The air release installation must be located after the water check valve. Happy aqua product, I recommend to buy.
