A good product. A few notes on installing a lock on steel residential doors and the type of battery used

Now I have three such locks. I am happy with all three. If, like me, you have steel skinned front doors, you may need to use a screwdriver and hammer to make a few small indentations around the edge of the outer opening in the door. This is necessary so that the outer part of the lock block fits snugly against the outside of the door. I don't think this would be a problem with wooden doors because when you tighten the screws on the inside of the door to press the outside of the door firmly against the outside of the door, two small "pins" and three flanges on the Edge of the locking part entering the outer hole will cut into the outer edge of the wood hole if you tighten it while tightening the screws. This appears to be a design feature to prevent the front of the lock from rotating from the outside. If you have front doors with a steel face these two small pins and three flanges will not easily cut into the steel so when you tighten the screws from the inside the lock face will not be tight against the door on the outside. So I used a screwdriver and a hammer to make the right indentations. After I did that, it fits perfectly. Also note that the manual recommends NOT to use a lithium battery with this lock. Although they last longer than regular batteries, once they start to "die" they die very quickly. Normal batteries die slower. This lock will likely beep when the battery is low to indicate that it is time to change the battery, and with traditional batteries this beep will last for quite a while while the lock will still function. But with a lithium battery it seems that once the beeping starts it stops pretty quickly because the battery drains so quickly. And when the battery is low, you can only open the lock with the key until you change the battery. Therefore, a rapidly draining battery can be a problem if you plan to be away for a long time.
