Review on 🚗 OESpectrum Passenger Car Shock Absorber - Monroe 5960 by Trey Michaels

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good shock for the money

I own a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis and almost anyone who has owned one of these cars understands that like the Crown Victoria and Lincoln Continental almost everyone has the parts for it Ford vehicles are interchangeable. So if you have any of these three cars from 1998 thru 2002, these shocks will fit all of them. At the same time, they should be equally easy or difficult to assemble and have an equal effect on the driving effect. I'm happy with everything about the shocks and my shipping experience except for one small thing - I wish they had a more stable ride. My car had over 197,000 miles when I replaced them. Old shock absorbers didn't get to the limit or didn't make any noise. I just felt that the ride was too "floating" with the old shocks and was confident that the new shocks would fix that. Not so. While the handling has solidified somewhat, the handling still exhibits too much "float". Maybe this is how this car felt when it was new. I had the suspension system checked by the pros and all they recommended was replacing the tension arm. I've done this recently, but the smoothness still hasn't changed. OK. Maybe I should have looked for more aggressive dampers.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Legacy model
