Durable, robust adapter. Fast shipping with Prime. As I said, it didn't work for me. Upon arrival I connected the adapter to the monitor cable and plugged the VGA connector into the laptop - nothing - no picture. After further research I found out that my monitor is DVI-D (digital) and not DVI (digital and analogue). You need a DVI monitor for this connector to work, not a DVI-D monitor like I did. VGA is analog output and DVI-D is digital output, so this simple adapter won't work in my case. What confused me was that the female DVI connector on my old desktop graphics card was exactly the same as on this adapter. I thought it would work fine with my existing monitor. However, I had to look at the monitor's connector to determine if I had a DVI or DVI-D monitor. For those interested, the DVI-D connector (digital only) has a flat bar with no pins surrounding it on one side. From what I've read, a DVI connector (both digital and analog) has a flat strip with 4 pins surrounding the strip. It is these 4 pins around the flat screen that carry the analog signal that allows you to use this adapter with your computer's VGA (analog) output.
