Review on 📏 12 Inch Precision Marking T Rule: The Ultimate Tool for Accurate Measurements by Marc Stewart

Incra have an excellent reputation for manufacturing quality tools and accessories. So, when I was looking for a marking ruler, I did not hesitate to check the products on offer. I really only needed the tool to mark about 1" from the edges of my work pieces, so I originally considered the 3" marking rule, but ended up going with the 6" version to get mine to protect future investment a little. Pros: When the rule was introduced, I was happy to see that the mounting hardware that came with the unit worked great, contrary to the experiences of some other reviewers. The slots/holes in the ruler appear to be cut accurately and evenly and my 0.5mm Pentel mechanical pencil lead fits perfectly into the holes. Disadvantages: The biggest disadvantage I see is that the steel used for the ruler (a) is too brittle. , and (b) anything but flat. The fact that the line is faint might be forgiven if it were flat, but this line exhibits constant curvature. In the attached image you can see how the rule has a curve (the image shows the bottom of the rule against the ruler). Also, the curve on the workpiece I received has a concave shape pointing outward (to the side) from the workpiece. If it were curved with the concave side down I could at least press in the center to press the entire ruler against my workpiece. In my opinion, Incra could solve both problems by using thicker steel for this product. The precision rule shouldn't have such problems. I might try the 3" version as the warping might be less pronounced at closer range. Otherwise I get around this device and grumble every time I use it. I will avoid 12" or larger versions.
