Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ ELEGOO UNO R3 Project Comprehensive Starter Kit with Tutorial โ€“ Compatible with Arduino IDE (Inclusive of 63 Items) by Maria Rodriguez

Great starter kit, some parts are cheap but most are good.

Overall a good starter kit, sufficient for many beginner projects. The Elegoo UNO board works just as well as the real Ardruino board. I tested every project on this board and on the official Arduino board and found no differences. This board works great with the Arduino IDE. Most of the parts included in the kit are great and ideal for beginner projects, however I have some complaints and issues with some parts. The included resistors work and will show the correct resistance when checked with a multimeter. However, these are some of the cheapest resistors I've seen. The wire is so ridiculously thin that it's awkward to insert into a breadboard without bending it. and also when you plug it in they are so small that the breadboard doesn't hold them well, I had to wiggle them around and switch slots on the breadboard to find the tightest slot to get solid connections. The MOSFETs included are very small and weak, using them for a standard DC motor lead caused them to get very hot and burn out, I replaced them with stronger MOSFETs. I had problems with the rotary encoder, I'm not sure if it's broken or if it's a problem on my end, but it doesn't work very well. I've tried almost everything in this kit, I'll come back and update this review if I encounter any issues. Another thing that worries me is that they don't include any specs on the parts, no diagrams showing which pins are for what, no information on what the part is rated for. You can find this information for most parts by googling the part number, but some parts don't have tags. The pictures I've added show the real Arduino board, but I've tested everything with both the Elegoo UNO and the real UNO and it worked the same on both, I just forgot to take a picture than that Elegoo board was connected.

Pros
  • All modules are soldered for easy connection.
Cons
  • Hardware Sad
