There's no way around it. My needle will break after playing with it a few times. It would be nice if it came pre-assembled on a tiny circuit board or something like some of the other components. I spent about 2 hours checking my drivers etc before realizing the cable was bad and used an old USB printer cable I had laying around. This is a decent kit in terms of the number and variety of parts and components included. I only had one broken part in my kit - a servo motor that didn't rotate a full 180 degrees. Great price! All components are very solid and the solder joints look clean and strong. My son and I went through most of the completed sample projects over a couple of weekends.
