I use it in a bearded dragon cage. I used to have an included liner that was brown and a bit scratchy. It was good, but it just didn't hold up over time. On the contrary, this one has a rubber backing so it doesn't slide on the glass. Also, because it's mostly waterproof, not all urine gets on the glass, and other liquids don't settle under the mat to fester and get dirty. Also, the upper is very soft, and while it's not meant to be "soft," it actually is a bit soft. It's easy to throw in the washing machine and comes out clean with no problems.
