Overall this is a very good carafe. There is good weight without being heavy. Make sure you have your scissors handy as they were so well wrapped in bubble wrap that I actually had to cut them open to get to the box. Great as I was a little worried it would break. The top and insert are plastic and snap onto the top of the carafe. The top is very easy to put on and take off and stays in place for multiple uses. From above, where the spout is, there are clamping teeth. I didn't put anything in it other than iced tea so can't tell if it's convenient or not, but it's nice to have a stronger iced tea as the ice is separate from the tea so it doesn't dilute it all. So if you are looking for a nice carafe, you can stop looking and buy this one. Good price, good quality, fast shipping, great packaging.
