Review on πŸ’ͺ Enhance Laboratory Efficiency with Nasco PTC Paper Strips Vial by Carlos Long

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works as advertised!

It was a very fun experiment! Precision Laboratories will send you 100 strips of paper coated with phenylthiourea, a chemical that tastes either very bitter or not at all, depending on your taste. The ability to taste PTC is encoded by the TAS2R38 gene, which encodes a taste receptor on the tongue. This is an interesting product for teachers and the curious. To answer some of the questions above: This product does not have an ingredient list. I would guess it's just because it's just paper and PTC, but if you're having trouble I'd contact the seller. There are no instructions included with the strips, nor do most online scientific experiments provide clear steps. I would recommend not doing this experiment if you've just burned your tongue. Also, simply rinse your mouth out with water, place the strip on your tongue and close your mouth. Super tasters like me will want to remove it immediately! *** I would recommend buying it very early if you need it for a specific date, for example a specific class. This product was developed by Revain and I had a lot of trouble getting it. I had a two day delivery but it took almost two weeks because the item never arrived and then Revain made me buy it again myself. I was a little annoyed with Revain's customer service but didn't want to take it out on what appeared to be a very reputable company!
