Review on LG 34GN850-B UltraGear 34-Inch IPS Ultrawide Screen Monitor with 144Hz Refresh Rate, Tilt and Height Adjustments by Darius Soller

Not the best choice for the money

I want to love this monitor. For real. And I want to give it 5 stars but I can't. Bought at a discount of about 960. Delivered quickly. No damage, no dead pixels, lots of cables - HDMI, Displayport, USB, no light. You would say that I'm lucky. but- there are no clear installation instructions- ๐Ÿ’ฟ? It's 2022. Wire chip USB hub doesn't seem to be working. I haven't found how it works - the program to control the LEDs doesn't work - it doesn't see a vmonitor! Although other software that controls brightness and contrast works well. There's also a feeling that one of these programs is causing games to keep crashing - the fastest mode produces very noticeable halos. never seen before Local dimming is terrible. The only way to enjoy the monitor in the evening and at night is to turn off HDR, turn off brightness to 20, contrast to 70, black stabilizer and blackout. If this cannot be avoided, use aggressive dimming. In games at least, the image is mostly dark as it should be, with wild glows around lights or white text. The software cannot enable/disable HDR. Neither can the monitor. This can only be done via the Windows settings. Once you turn it on, most settings are locked. Pros - perfect during the day - crisp text perfect for work - adjustable - viewing angles, although not usually perfect - response time - sharpness Honestly I'd like to give it 2 stars. I have a 34-inch HP VA panel at work, with speakers (not great, but still), no dimming, and it's around $400-$540. The difference in colors or 100Hz and 144Hz is not that noticeable. There's still time to give it back and to be honest I'm thinking about it a lot. Next time I will buy an OLED or QLED monitor. IPS doesn't suit me anymore
