Very surprised and disappointed in Thule for this product. Usually their products are well made and designed. Unfortunately this pillow seems late. The straps (as many have mentioned) are fitted very loosely and in fact fitted in such a way that they can't help but separate. Linear tension on the straps or mat will delaminate them as they are sewn backwards in the direction of the force. Clear design flaw. Also, the mat has no weight at all to keep it on the sloping surface of the car. It's so light that gravity won't even overcome the memory curve you'll get if you leave it rolled up. Funny - if you look at the picture of the product you can see the mat curling up lol. Save some money and go to Kmart, get TWO rubber backed bath mats and put one over the car and the other under the back of the kayak to avoid scratching when you tip it over the racks. You pay half the $40 you would for this mat, and you can use it to stash all your wet gear in the back of your car when you're done. The first completely negative review I've ever posted on Amazon now makes me nervous about other Thule products. And they have always supported me as a fan.
