Important! You do this at your own risk! Ladder racks have been installed to prevent the door from collapsing! The tailgates have a significant weight! A lone post won't keep the gate open! It's best to have someone hold the door open while the spacers are removed and installed. I greased the ball joints. I made rack after rack. The bad posture went away easily. The other serviceable strut was in stretch mode, allowing the strut to fit snugly at the ball joints; I tapped my hand lightly to loosen the working strut/ball joint. bam! Another "new" item did not keep the goal. The gate must be FULLY extended to engage the ball joint post. It wasn't very difficult to install. Have someone help you hold the gate or support the gate in some way. the instructions do not "explicitly" mention this. I'll see how long they last. Four stars for the lack of safety instructions.
