I did this rafting and all my gear was bone dry. Perfect size for a day trip or weekend getaway. It wouldn't be great if you had to carry it on your back all day as the straps aren't very comfortable. This worked great for keeping my stuff dry on the boat through a few rapids. I didn't like the free phone case that comes with the kit. The small latches that close it at the top are not connected to the case. So if you're not careful, they'll fall out easily when opening/closing, and since it's black, they're not easy to find. Because of these poorly made clasps, I kept my phone in a dry case and didn't leave it exposed to water, so I can't say if it will protect your phone.
