As with any jack it is best to install blocks before lifting. First, make sure that this block is PARALLEL to the FRONT AND REAR of the car. If you put it from side to side, it will fall off the jack when moving the car. Because of this, the small scissor jack that comes with cars often fails. I use it professionally as a roadside assistance device and plug it into a 12v jump box and it doesn't draw much power at all. The cable is long enough and the built-in light saves lives. My highest recommendation ever. Great tool anytime! (Attention, don't forget to lock the wheels)
