I have a few different cheap cell phone tripods and they are much more reliable than this one. It would give me a lot more confidence if it was aluminum, but at this price point and for all its versatility, I'm fine with that. I keep my original tripod mount as a backup, but it feels solid in comparison. I will be following ULANZI to make one of these out of aluminum but until then it will be great. It has a nice built in tilt with click points so you can loosen it just enough to click up and down the tilt without having to re-tighten it. It's also the transitions between portrait and landscape, not something that someone in portrait needs to photograph or record. I prefer the spring clamps which have cheap mounts but between the high end clamps I prefer this lever type over the screw type as I need a cold shoe on top for the mic. Since I need built in tilt, this is the mount for me.
