Our rear door died one day upon us, so I immediately researched how to solve this problem. I was just glad it didn't fail and hit one of our kids. It turns out that the tailgate supports have finally given up. A replacement service at the dealer would be too expensive. Luckily, StrongArm had a big discount on a pair and a link to their website explaining how easy it is to install them. While my wife was holding the tailgate, I spent 4-5 minutes prying each clip open with a flat head screwdriver and prying each end of the old supports out of their sockets one at a time. Then it was just a matter of inserting the replacement (while inserting, carefully pry the clips up with a screwdriver so you don't scratch the socket) and you're done. (Note: only one prop turned out to be really "dead" - I could move it like a trombone - but I decided to replace both, just in case). I recommend you to SLOWLY and carefully close the back door the first time after installation. her. There's a slight push when you first close it (don't worry!), but once you unlock the door, opening and closing is incredibly smooth. In fact, I no longer have to lift the door halfway for it to move by itself. As soon as I press the opening button, it almost feels like an automatic door! In terms of packaging, both props were exceptionally well packaged in a very strong shipping tube. Both were sealed in thick plastic bags and boxed with a link to the StrongArm site with installation instructions, and the remaining space in the tube was tightly packed. I'm really impressed with the care they took in packaging them. I bought them at full price with my own money based on my own research. I'm glad I took the risk and wholeheartedly recommend this product!
