Review on Sangean FB-100 Fatbox Rugged Industrial AM/FM Radio by Keith Harris

The thing is solid and sounds great for my purposes. I often take this boombox outside when working on outdoor projects and gardening in my backyard or even indoors in my basement store. Enough volume for my purposes of working in close proximity to the radio itself, sometimes as far as 20 feet, and it doesn't drain my batteries of life anytime soon. Sometimes I leave it on in the morning and all day, sometimes until sunset and the batteries still keep me going. Not only do I use it at home, but the portability and small size are a big plus for me. I have also taken it to picnics and when I spend my free time in the park, practicing and rehearsing my juggling my MP3 player playlist through them. It's also a great radio to take to a car movie and save yourself from a dead car battery when the movie is over (yes, that happened to me, and now this boombox pops up every time). It definitely holds up through the dual features with clarity and plenty of leftover juice. Its design and functions are simple, simplified and practical. There are five user preset buttons, a band select button (AM, FM and AUX for an MP3 player), a volume control and a tuner select knob. The briefly (10 seconds) orange backlit display is a practical feature when switching channels/functions. I researched before buying. and for the price range and the positive reviews I couldn't be happier with my decision to go with it. This is my first and only 'working' radio so I can't compare it to others on the market. My only downside I think would be the lack of an EQ and I find this radio leans a bit towards the bass side and is a bit "boomy" at times depending on the type/age/quality of music being played. . However, I've had it for several years now and it has never let me down, and given the price you can't go wrong if you're looking for a decent source of musical accompaniment. If you're looking for a good, reliable radio with enough power that won't drain your battery, I can highly recommend this. So I can't compare it to others on the market.
