I recently removed all the carpeting in my house and replaced all the floors with engineered vinyl. As such, this review is not necessarily intended for those who have a fully carpeted home. My experience with Shark Navigator has been excellent for my vinyl floors. I have two cats, so there are occasional steppe runners hopping around the house. There are also small pieces of cat litter next to the litter boxes. She sucks that vacuum in like a hungry, hungry hippopotamus without spitting it out again. The unit is very light on my vinyl floors and has a nice sharp ball rotating mechanism. The vacuum cleaner comes with 3 nozzles: wide, crevice and brush. There is a slide function for aeration if you need less suction for nozzles or a regular vacuum nozzle. This makes it easy to vacuum carpets with a nozzle without pulling on the fabric. It easily rids my sofa of my pet hair. The head itself has 2 modes: with rotating brush cylinder (for carpets) and without (for non-carpeted floors). I mostly used the no carpet, no brush rotation option, but read in the instructions that there are mechanisms to keep the brush from rotating if something gets caught so you can remove it without burning anything. The device is bagless, easy to detach, carry and open the flip cover to throw the contents in the trash. I recommend reading the instructions for assembling the main parts right out of the box (it's very easy), as well as the instructions for using the attachments and using the foot locking mechanism. This vacuum doesn't have a traditional foot pedal to kick the vacuum from an upright position (no more breaking those plastic pedals). You simply place your foot on the suction head, tilt the suction cup to the right and pull back, and it will unlock the suction cup from its upright position. This vacuum cleaner looks very well made and its design makes it very easy to plug in and get started. The cord is long enough to handle any space, but not too long to be rolled up. There is a hook on the top of the handle that you can use to hang the cord while vacuuming so it doesn't get in the way. Honestly this is the best vacuum I've ever had and I don't think I'll be going back to other brands.
