DOES NOT fit 2017 Dyna Low Rider S (FXDLS)

I bought a set of these Kinetic grips with my 2017 Dyna Low Rider S in July 2017 but postponed them until October 2018 when I got this found out the throttle grip does NOT fit the bike (wanted to ride mostly stock for a while). Basically, as soon as the throttle-side grip moves a few inches, it starts to compress onto the handlebars and gets tighter the further I move the grip. It hooked properly into the throttle mechanism at the end of the rod and activated the throttle properly, but because the grip was so tight it didn't rebound when I twisted and released the throttle. It could be ridden like that, but the bike would turn into a "death machine" with a stuck gas, which isn't a smart idea. Of course I tried all the typical tips for a "tight" grip, such as B. looking for any "burrs" inside the grip, sanding the handlebars a bit to reduce its diameter, but nothing helped as the internal diameter of the grip is tapered too big. too small for this bike. I contacted Kuryakin and the local Metro Harley Davidson parts supplier and all the techs said the clutch was compatible with the Dyna Low Rider S - WRONG IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE! To confirm my suspicions, I ordered another set of these grips from Revain (this page) and confirmed that they will NOT fit the 2017 Dyna Low Rider S (FXDLS) either. My local Metro HD parts specialist wanted me to bring the kinetic cranks and my bike in for their service technicians to check to confirm any incompatibilities, which I did. They tried many things to adjust the grip (I gritted my teeth when they put a grinder on my handlebars) but the grip did NOT fit. To fix the problem, the parts technician immediately swapped them out for a set of Kuryakyn ISO Grips and the technicians successfully installed them. Not sure why Kuryakin lists kinetic grips for this bike when they definitely WILL NOT work. Not sure if this is a bad Kinetics production run or the FXDLS is just another incompatible bar (I suspect the FXDLS has a different bar diameter). This really sucks because I liked the kinetic grips way more than the ISO grips, but without machining and possibly destroying these kinetic grips, it's impossible to use them on my bike (I thought about that, but at + $80 a set of grips, I just couldn't bring myself to grind any more extreme with these kinetic grips). I just have to learn to love ISO grips. Good luck and I hope you don't run into the trouble I caused.

  • Nice
Cons
  • Good but not great
