Some Government Motors (GM) products, including Chevy Silverado trucks, have a known ABS problem at low speeds when decelerating between 7 and 3 mph. While it's not a major safety hazard making the truck unwieldy, it's extremely annoying, almost as annoying as a costly GM bailout, LOL! Luckily, this is an easy fix without spending billions of tax dollars. This is caused by a fault in the front wheel speed sensors. These ACDelco sensors are genuine OEM items and Revain actually sells them at a lower price than some aftermarket parts. The replacement takes less than 15 minutes, but is a fairly simple process with standard automotive tools. With the vehicle jacked up and the front wheel removed, follow the normal procedure to remove the caliper and then the rotor. The sensor is held in the hub by a single Allen screw, and there is an electrical connector that needs to be unplugged and then unplugged. It is essential to ensure that the mating surface on the bearing hub is absolutely rust-free with sandpaper, Scotchbright or a wire brush. Even a very thin layer of rust can impair the correct seating of the sensor and lead to errors. Make sure the mounting hole is free of grinding debris. Applying a thin coat of anti-rust paint to a cleaned surface can help prevent rust from recurring. Put everything back together and then you have smooth stops and can stop crawling when you step on the brake pedal. The vehicle's OBD-II system may have stored a code for this error even after the repair. This can be cleaned up with Scantool. If you don't have it, you can buy it from Revain.
