Review on SMAKN® MPR121 Breakout Proximity Capacitive by Andre Stephens
Self-calibration gets my vote
I've been using a few of these in various touch button applications currently. The best part is that each input is automatically calibrated when the device is initialized. This requires a lot of guesswork when designing dimensions and distances from capacitive touch panels to other conductive surfaces. I recently tried using conductive paint on my pads and it worked great even on the back of 3mm thick acrylic sheets.
