I'm impressed: GPS, finder and accessories

When I bought my Nuvi I accidentally discovered this mount - wow, I'm glad. I wanted something to use temporarily so I can keep using my TomTom while I evaluate Nuvi. I wasn't expecting much for the price but I figured if it had run for a week it would have served its purpose. I was surprised, amazed and impressed by how well it works on my '04 Camry - for the price it's amazing. . Evaluation is complete, I have now moved the TomTom to a second device and expect it to be a permanent Nuvi mount. You cannot use both.). Someone noticed that the assembly/installation instructions are bad - that's true. On my car, the Nuvi holds up pretty securely (a bit of flex, but good enough). Note. Check out the photos I uploaded for my setup. I have it on the passenger side air vent. This arrangement has two main advantages over a windshield. You don't have to read it with the glare of the windshield behind it, and it's close and conveniently positioned for the passenger to drive. I've only tried it a few times here, but it's about as handy as the TomTom windshield mount. I've been using TomTom on a window for about four years and it's clearly more comfortable. I didn't know how much of it was visible from my window until I removed it - the clear view is good and there is no longer a wire in the middle of that area. The space on the windshield also attracts thieves. I'm not sure which location is safer in a collision and I haven't tried removing it. There are some signs that you can damage your fins if you're not careful. Edited April 12 to add: I now understand the complaints in other reviews about the wobbling. Lateral forces are not tolerated. If you press it directly into the grate it is quite stable, but once I pressed it on the grate at an angle and it came off completely. I'm still happy with it, but side forces should be avoided.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some little things
