The cheapest COX compatible modem, a little cooling will help it work stably.

I've been using this modem very well for almost 2 months until this month it started restarting itself constantly. It's terribly annoying when you're playing with a team or in a meeting and you go offline because your modem rebooted on its own. It happens all the time every day, sometimes during the day and definitely several times during the night. I bought another one to see if the problem was with the modem itself. COX is a very bad company as they charge for 3rd party modems because they probably want to sell/rent us their own for $12/month. They keep saying there is a problem with our replacement modem and they say they couldn't pair the MAC address. So we never know if it was a modem or COX problem. Most likely both. Since we cannot exchange this modem for another one because the return period has expired, we can only keep it for ourselves. The modem always gets very hot, so we suspect the restart could be due to its overheat protection. As I work in an electrical products test lab I know this is a very high probability. We bought a small USB fan to put next to the modem and it just stopped getting hot all the time. In the 24 hours since we put the fan next to me, there has never been an automatic restart. This hasn't happened in several weeks.
