Review on Wake Aluminum Alloy Bike Stem - 31.8Mm, 45Mm Short Handlebar Stem For Mountain, Road, BMX And Fixie Gear Bikes – Available In Black, Blue, Gold, And Red by Daniel Drury

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works, but will earn some ridicule from others.

Mixed bag of opinions on this one. I have had two, one on my trail bike and one on my XC, for over a year. Pressure from other riders convinced me to replace them, "or I'll DIE". So I swapped them for truvativ stems and the Wake stems now live on my girlfriend's XC and the spare XC we loan out to friends. They've been used now on multiple bikes and for multiple riding conditions, including steep decent and small jumps. There is no visible wear on either stem. It's possible that I've gotten lucky, as I've heard nothing but horror stories from other riders. Or maybe people are over tightening the bolts, or using bad suspension setups that compound forces at the stem/bars. Idk. These have worked well for me, so they get the 5, but I am happier with the name recognition/reliability/and overall look of the truvativ stems I've upgraded to.
