I have an open cargo trailer and two spare wheels. I made brackets that attached to the outside walls of the trailer out of pressure-treated wood. They weren't bad. They were strong and strong, but only lasted a few years. So I wanted something more durable and resilient to the harsh South Florida environment. I chose the Eaz-Lift mount. He had enough hardware for me to attach the bracket to the side panel from the inside. I even used a carriage bolt backing plate. It took a bit of fiddling to get everything right, but it worked great. This mount is well made. The welds are very well done. The only thing I don't like about this mount is that the 1/2" carriage bolts that attach the rim to the mount are loose, meaning they are not stationary. I see how they lose space when changing tires at night. I knew that before I bought the mount. I tried using a nut to hold the bolt in place but the replacement part wasn't as sturdy as I would like. I'll try to use JB welding on 1/2" bolts. If that doesn't work, I use my welder to insert the bolts. This mount worked for me. In fact, so good that I bought another one for my second spare.
