. My system: Windows 10 Pro laptop with USB 3.0 ports - fully updated with current drivers and Microsoft updates. I disabled the built-in Wi-Fi and then installed this USB adapter as instructed. This adapter ONLY maintained a stable connection to my network when there was no data transfer. If I were to initiate an important data transfer, this adapter would reliably shut down at random times, effectively causing the transfer to fail. I tried in order (1) the driver that came with it, (2) the "latest" driver from the web link provided on the Revain website, and (3) the latest driver from the RealTek website. (RealTek is the chipset manufacturer for this adapter.) Neither of these drivers resolved the connection problem. An extensive web search for solutions yielded a number of suggestions, but none of them solved the shutdown issue. My guess: the chip overheats and switches off due to heat. but just my guess. I gave up and sent the defective unit back to Revain (thanks Revain). I bought a Netgear A6210 adapter. Problem solved.
