As long as you follow the instructions (I didn't do the first half of the install oh!) the drawer slides slide in very easily. They are also very strong. I actually only installed the front and middle screws (the back ones are very difficult to get to) and the drawer doesn't flex at all when fully extended unless I lean in. I would say the drawer can easily hold 10 pounds or more. Some suggestions/recommendations: 1. Get a tool to hold your slides; They are difficult to hold with one hand and try to negotiate with the other with a screwdriver. I used masking tape which was effective but had to be reapplied a couple of times. Pre-drill holes for the screws! This simplifies the installation of the screw by about 100 times.3. You should also invest in either a very strong magnetic screwdriver bit or one of those socket bits to hold the screw in place while you try to get it in the hole. I spent about 10 minutes tightening these stupid screws. I finally gave up and drilled a much larger pilot hole than I wanted. All of these things turned a 5 minute installation into a 30 minute desperation exercise. But let me be VERY clear here. These defects were MY fault, not the product. I installed a custom drawer in the 11 inch opening of a 15 year old desk. Not the easiest project, but it works. Now you have to attach a writing tray to the other side (!).
