Review on Blue Brita Lake Color Series 10-Cup Pitcher Model by Michael Hudson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Probably the best Brita mug on the market due to its filling mechanism

We've been using this jar for a little over a month and it's working great. The filter reduces the TDS in our water from 150ppm to 60ppm. It takes about five minutes to filter a full tank of water, but filter time doesn't matter because of the "Lake" feature. To be honest, the filling mechanism of this Brita jug is the best thing a filter jug can have for me, precisely because filtering the water is a fairly slow process. With this pitcher, you simply add water through the small door at the top of the lid. The rising water in the tank lifts the lid when the tank is full, so you don't even have to look inside. Simply fill the tank with water from the top and place the item in the fridge. Don't leave the pitcher under the sink for ten minutes while the water trickles down. Another nifty issue is that the fill tank is fairly well isolated from the filtered water below. The filling tank is completely sealed, so no unfiltered water can get into your cup when pouring, even if the tank is full. It is possible for unfiltered water to leak through the fill door when the jug is almost empty, however, when the jug is full and you have to tilt the jug sharply to pour. Overall, this is a good addition to the Brita family. I think from the offerings available today (February 2018) this is probably the best pitcher they sell simply because of the easy and convenient filling mechanism.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
