So I confess: I bought these videos for myself as an adult, not for children. I've always wanted a pair of ice skates, but I don't have much experience with them other than a vague memory of when I was younger and ring skating with my childhood crush. I'm still a beginner and while looking for a pair of skates I accidentally bought a pair of inline skates (in-line skates) thinking they were the same. It's not like this. FYI, inline skates aka inline skates have a straight row of wheels while inline skates have left and right wheels, which is what I wanted from the start but couldn't remember which were which. Too bad, but on roller skates I couldn't stand straight on the concrete for even a few seconds without falling because I just couldn't find my balance. I personally find it safer for my balance to have the wheels next to the two front brakes like on inline skates than just inline wheels and only one rear brake like on inline skates. I decided to check again. This time for a pair of inline skates and that led me to the kids and children's section. The hot pink really caught my eye, along with the rainbow laces and glowing wheels. Therefore, despite my age, I bought these children's roller skates in the largest size, namely large (3-6 years). I usually wear women's size 8 and children's sizes are usually 2 sizes smaller than women's sizes. Thus, a large size (3Y-6Y) for children corresponds to a size 5-8 for women. The adjustable fit can be adjusted up to 4 sizes, so I assumed it could be adjusted to a size 5, 6, 7 and 8 on women's shoes. Surprisingly, I fit with no adjustment/extension! I was expecting to have to upgrade it to the max level, but I don't really need it. I think depending on the thickness of my socks I might lengthen them for a better fit. As I can fit without adjustment and normally wear a size 8 I conclude that these skates can be larger so I would recommend sizing down if needed. There are three straps that help me feel totally secure: laces (I had 2 options of pink or rainbow laces and I naturally chose rainbow), safety ratchet, and velcro. Every inline skate has a front brake, while inline skates only have a rear brake on the right skate. I also like the lighted polyurethane wheels that don't require batteries. The colors aren't too distracting but look great especially in the dark and the PU material is really comfortable. I also love the vibrant combination of pink, white and silver! Plus, I could stand right on the concrete on these roller skates! I ride slowly, like a middle-aged tortoise, but I'm glad I can ride without falling at all. I feel all my childhood memories again thanks to them and I just couldn't get a pair of ice skates at a better price!
