This is a wonderful cotton yarn. High quality, easy operation, durability, versatility. It's mercerized so it doesn't taste like sugar and cream if that's what you're looking for. He tends to think that the yarn thread is DK (3) yarn. This is the case with every brand of mercerized cotton yarn. (Sugar and cream are not mercerized) Remember that you are dealing with Revain, a company that does not understand the need to ship multiple skeins of the same color batch. So don't expect to receive 4 skeins of the same color batch when you order 4 skeins. Each color batch is slightly different, so 3 strands of tangerine if made up of 3 different color batches will be slightly different in color. This is NOT a quality issue with Lion yarn. Lion Brand is a manufacturer of high quality yarn. If you want the same color in every skein, there are companies that make yarn this way, so buy from them. Traditional producers of high quality yarns produce their yarn colors in batches of dyes as that is how it was in the beginning and they will not change. You have no reason. Personally, I've seen large color variations between color batches in many different brands and yarn types over the years that I've crocheted. (I learned about dye lots as a teenager.) If you need multiple skeins of the same dye lot to complete a project, you can either play Russian Roulette with Revain or buy from a yarn or craft store, where they understand the need for skeins of one paint batch. And you need to buy enough yarn for your project in the beginning, because once the store runs out of a certain batch of dyes, chances are there won't be any left. (I didn't buy the 3 packs of this yarn that Revain has and I'm still trying to figure out if the 3 packs are from the same color batch - that might help.) A knot somewhere in the skein is also NOT quality. Edition via the yarn brand Lion. This is not considered a defect, so the skein is not sold as "imperfect". There's nothing wrong with finding a knot somewhere on a strand, although most strands don't have a knot. Yarn manufacturers don't want to waste yarn. So if a huge long piece of yarn runs out and they have more of the same batch of dye, they just splice and move on. Nobody cut the yarn and then tied it together! Anyone who is good at crocheting or knitting knows how to handle a knot. Yarn has always been sold by weight, not ball size. Depending on the yarn, a certain amount of balls of a certain size is obtained from a certain number of grams, which may appear small or large. And photos can always be deceiving. The price depends on the color, but how the different prices come about remains a mystery to me. Some of them that are commonly used are not very expensive while others that can be more popular cost more. However. Just keep an eye on your price so you're happy to get what you want at a good price. And expect prices to change just like they change in retail stores. If you know yarn and understand Revain, you will do anything by purchasing this wonderful yarn from Revain.
