Changing to Wix

I bought a 2013 Audi A3 TDI (2.0L CBEA engine) a while back and am now changing the oil for the third time. So far I've used Mann oil filters with no problem as they are supposed to be OEM's. only available in 100% synthetic formulations for this vehicle). I also saw reviews of some paper filters that broke after a while, which bothered me. From what I've read it seems like they only make paper filters for this car because it's a diesel, but I don't quite understand why. Anyway, I was a big fan of Wix and decided to buy a similar filter. There are small differences, but the most important are the stubs. It's still paper, but the paper is firmly inserted into the plastic plugs and not glued to the paper. It feels more familiar to me and gives me an idea that if I don't change it for a long time, it won't break. The Mann filter has about 10 more convolutions (77 for Mann vs. 67 for Wix). and both appear to be well made with quality filter material. I haven't had any problems with the Mann filter, but I switch out of caution. I'll report anything interesting.
