Review on Buy Motorola SURFboard SB5120 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem - Non-Retail Packaging (Brown Box) Online by Dejuan Stott

Performance Champion

I bought the SB5120 when I unsubscribed from AT&T's DSL service and decided to go with Comcast Cable Internet. The SB5120 leverages Comcast's reliable data rates with full compatibility. Our home network uses Mac computers. Our HP printer is connected to a modem with an Ethernet cable. The modem supports a network backup drive via a USB connection. This replacement hard drive has not yet been installed. The installation instructions must be repeated carefully. I found them incomplete and not detailed enough. A call to Motorola Technical Support was a must. A Motorola representative walked me through every step of the setup process. This help made the glaring omissions in the installation instructions even more visible. Motorola's help seems absolutely necessary as personal backup information, modem settings and warranty service information were recorded during the call. The modem has been working fine for a month. No resets were required. He just sits quietly on a shelf in the closet and does his job. Loading an additional computer on the network does not clearly affect the operation of that modem or the operation of any of the computers. I would definitely buy this modem again and recommend it to a friend.
