Bought a set of 10 adjustable buck LED lighting controls. You get what you pay for in this case. It's so terrible! A quick test on my desktop showed how bad. I set it to 5V (no load), input 12V. With only 0.5A load, >1.0V ripple at 340kHz! BAD! The adjustment dropped to an average of 4.4V. So I increased it to 5V. (then it was 7V without load) So everything will only get worse. At 2A it began to truncate periodically. The thermal imager showed the chip as the hottest part, about 70 degrees on the surface. The ripple was now 2.5V (now 160kHz). Unacceptable garbage. I'll try to figure out how much capacitor is needed to make them work. The efficiency is only slightly better than that of a linear regulator. Far from 90%, much less than advertised. cap will not help. So they got my money. I only have 6 dollars.
